Our Experience

An asset about which clients favorably have commented the most is our ability to take complex insurance matters, present them with simplified focus, and advance them with effective action.

We like what we do. We understand insurance in America and in international markets, from its earliest days when individual underwriters placed marine insurance contracts in colonial coffee houses, to today's highly regulated multi-trillion-dollar industry.

Whether a property & casualty or life & health question is presented, or a direct insurance or reinsurance matter, our clients obtain the benefit of seasoned experience developed through many prior engagements.

Even in the largest law firms, senior practice group managers may never have worked in the industries to which they provide counsel. Advice can be technically correct, but not always practically applicable.

We specialize in providing simple and focused counsel, because we draw from a large background of prior engagements. For example, if a client presents a complex health insurance matter, Rob Galiette collaborated and published research with noted cancer specialist Paul Calabresi, M.D. at Brown University. Rob worked in hospital-based assignments at Roger Williams General Hospital, Providence, RI, and in administration at Danbury Hospital, Danbury, CT. He was a government regulator on the Connecticut Commission on Hospitals and Health Care, and worked with some of the first hospital regulatory commissions in Maryland and Delaware, as well as with HMO's such as U.S. Healthcare and in Columbia, MD. Rob was a department officer in charge of government relations for Group Insurance Operations at CIGNA, and chaired or served on insurance trade association committees. He wrote as well as testified on insurance regulations and proposed statutes at the State and Federal levels.

At the Phoenix Companies Rob served as group and reinsurance counsel, and in a 600-attorney international law firm, LeBoeuf Lamb / Dewey LeBoeuf, staffed complex insurance projects and associated litigation in its New York City, Washington DC and Hartford offices. As private counsel to companies such as the multiple insurance and reinsurance subsidiaries of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., Rob in all fifty States has obtained insurance licenses, product approvals, producer licenses and has appeared before insurance regulators at administrative hearings.

We like to reduce this comprehensive experience to focused advice that's simple, workalbe, practical and cost-effective.
